Stand with Alejandra!

As the mother of a veteran I am passionate about helping other veterans.

Stand with Alejandra! to end veterans suicide

Every single day in our nation veterans are committing suicide at the rate of 22 per day.

That is nearly one veteran an hour, nearly every hour, of every day.

We must do better to serve those who have served us.

I am doing my part by providing my training and expertise with horses to volunteer for TRR’s Warrior Camp® program for those who served our Nation.

I need you to support my participation there in March.

As an equine specialist, one of my jobs is to help establish the partnership between horse and human.

Horses, by nature, are incredibly sentient beings with great emotional intelligence. They are able to emotionally and energetically connect to humans in ways we are just beginning to comprehend. What we do know is they are natural healers and powerful partners in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I partner with a mental health professional and horses in this ground-breaking program which allows veterans to connect with horses on intimate emotional levels to help heal the Moral Injury sustained in combat. I have assisted in this connection and healing for the last 10 years and ask you to help me support the next group of veterans in March.

Healing Moral Injury

It costs people psychologically to override the instinctive aversion to kill other human beings. It costs them something from out of the depth of their souls.

Our veterans feel "sinful," broken, lost, deprived, depraved, soul-sick, guilty, and shameful after killing in combat. Many warriors feel all sick inside because of what they have seen and done. For us, this experience of inner darkness actually shows the human side of war.

Our veterans are suffering in silence. They withdraw from interaction with other humans, harm themselves, and often self-medicate with no hope for an end to the barrage of emotional distress they experience. There is a way to help relieve them of their pain and suffering.

TRR's Warrior Camp® is a 7-day trauma resolution and suicide prevention program free for combat veterans of all eras. It is designed to heal the trauma of war and Moral Injury, prevent suicide, enhance resilience and support force preservation. TRR is the only organization in the country correctly targeting Moral Injury as the cause of the high rate of suicide among veterans. With your donation I will be able to continue volunteering in this my 5th TRR program.

TRR Help

One of the ways we can powerfully memorialize our fallen warriors and all those who serve is to take the best care we can of those who suffer from the emotional, psychological, moral, and spiritual wounds of war. The video you are about to see shows the multifaceted and integrative way that Trauma and Resiliency, Inc. addresses those “soul wounds.”

Stand with me and please donate now!

Donate and know you are helping in the healing of our sons, brothers, husbands, and fathers who can heal from service injuries and serve our communities in a new mission.

What is Moral Injury?

TRR's Warrior Camp® Results

Clinical data from the first 9 programs revealed a statistically significant and substantive treatment effect on PTSD, depression, adult attachment, dissociation and Moral Injury.

We have a 100% survival rate - zero suicides post-program.

Quote from our participants: "I owe my life to Warrior Camp."

How can you Help?

By donating today, you will allow me to volunteer my time and bring my 10 years of expertise in working with military personnel and horses directly to the veterans in need at this March program. I ask this not for myself, but for the veterans who courageously show up to this program and partner with the horses in order to heal their hearts, minds, and soul.

In order to continue to volunteer in this my fifth TRR's Warrior Camp® program, I need financial support so I can take care of my obligations at home while I volunteer my time to serve those who served our Nation.

A Warrior Story

As an equine specialist, one of my jobs is to help establish the partnership between horse and human

In doing this, I am honored to witness healing moments again and again.

A young warrior who had been seriously injured by an IED in Afghanistan and had to have multiple reconstructive surgeries came to TRR's Warrior Camp® grieving because he was no longer the man he had been before his injuries. He was supportive and encouraging to his comrades, but was reluctant to allow himself to enter into his own healing process.

My heart knew this horse and this warrior were meant to be introduced.

The horse that partnered with this young man came to us as a former search and rescue horse with huge scars on his front and back legs from a horrific accident during which he was tangled up in barbed wire, and his skin and ligaments were shredded. He had been scheduled to be euthanized until someone stepped in at the last minute to give him another chance and purpose in life.

The Warrior was unable to say much to us, so we suggested he tell his story to the horse. He opened himself up to the horse, leaned in, and told his story.

“Would you like to know the horse name and story?”

“Yes.”

We told him the name of the horse was Ranger and his story, and he started to weep. With Ranger's head wrapped around him for a long time the healing began with the soldier’s long held tears.

Embraced until there were no more tears.

It was then, finally, that this warrior allowed himself to release his deep, hidden grief of the loss of his physical abilities and the loss of many of his comrades. He and Ranger stayed in their embrace until there were no more tears.

The warrior was finally ready to engage in his own healing process.

The power of the horse is real, allowing the hidden wounds of our veterans to enter into healing light.
